SCOTTISH U18 JW DIVISION1
SONY CENTRE FURY 51 BOROUGHMUIR 43
Fury Junior Woman took their opening game of the season, in what was a fairly low scoring, hard fought match, with Fury gaining the advantage in the final quarter with a 17-9 scoreline. The two teams fought out a tied 12 -12 first period and it was clear that this was going to be a very close game. A low scoring second period 7-9 saw Boroughmuir hold a slender 2pt lead at the half. A 15-13 third in Fury's favour tied the game going into the final quarter. In that period, Fury upped their defence and got some great baskets down the stretch with top scorer Sophie Cram, key in that spell. Captain Emily Melrose, played well at both ends of the floor, finishing with 12 personal and also producing crucial plays in the final minutes. The Falkirk side's third player on double digits was the tenacious Abby Reid who played tough on offence and in defence, Abby finishing with 10 personal. But this was very much a team win, with Coach Rebecca Lonsdale using all her players and that 100% counted as the game moved to its conclusion and Fury finished the stronger of the two sides. Special mention to Amy Kelly who came off the bench and produced great plays in that final quarter. Fury's team on the day was- Emily Melrose - Emily Dagger - Sophie Cram - Abby Reid - Olivia Mitchell - Jess Cowan - Faye Marshall - Amy Kelly - Chelsey Hughes - Eve Balloch - Freya Melrose - Rowan Brockie.
