Maddiston Primary School made it an incredible 5 titles in a row when they defeated firstly Grange Primary School, Bo’ness in the semi-finals and then Slamannan PS in the Final to win Falkirk’s Jump2it tournament, which was played in front of a 2000 strong Glasgow Rocks crowd. The 4 schools at the Finals had great support from family and friends and the Final which was played at the half-time point of the BBL - British Basketball League had the added bonus of the regular Rocks fans shouting the teams on. 21 Schools, a record number of schools, took part in this season’s Falkirk Jump2it program with 33 teams taking part in the initial competition at Grangemouth Sports Complex last week. Grange PS from Bo’ness, Maddiston from the Braes HS area and Comely Park & Slamannan from the Falkirk HS catchment were the four schools who made it to the Final 4. Maddiston and Slamannan the two pre tournament favorites were drawn apart in a live draw from Active Schools HQ (The Falkirk Stadium) in Falkirk that saw Slamannan draw Comely Park and Maddiston . On both days of competition at Grangemouth SC and at the Emirates all schools showed great skill and sportsmanship and while some schools benefitted from having some Fury squad players in their teams, their was lots of new talent observed by the officials. The event is a partnership with Cashback in the Communities, Scottish Sports Futures, the Glasgow Rocks pro basketball team, Falkirk Fury Basketball Club Registered Charity Sc047052, Active Schools Falkirk Falkirk Sport and of course the schools themselves. The event was kindly sponsored by Nadeem Quarban High Station Grocers, Falkirk.
