FURY SNARE WOLVES FOR PLAY-OFF FINAL PLACE !
SONY CENTRE FURY 79 WEST LOTHIAN WOLVES 58 National Play-Off Semi-Final - U16 Cadet Men
Fury set up a Play-Off Final place against St.Mirren with one of their best performances of the season at the Oriam SC when they defeated West Lothian Wolves by 21pts. In a sporting contest, that was well supported by a large number of fans for both teams, the Falkirk team flew out the blocks to rack up a 16-4 lead in the opening quarter. Fury maintained the pace and led 26-15 on the back of some great fast breaks and team basketball. The second saw the WLW pull it back to an 8 point difference at the half. With the sides having met 3 times already in the season and Wolves taking 2 of the games, a close match had been predicted and it remained close with the teams tying the 3rd at 14 apiece. A quick basket by Wolves at the start of the 4th saw the game come back to its closest point since the tip with only a 6 point Fury lead. But Fury then moved up a gear in the final stanza as they stunned the Wolves with some great play inside and on the perimeter as well as some tough D – holding WLW to 9 points and racking up 22 to take a well deserved win. That final period saw forward Louis Smith ignite Fury with a great reverse lay-up play. Jake Cavanagh produced some real energy in the 4th with Captain Kieran Allan and 3pt specialist Sam Owens leading Fury to victory. Jack Davidson, Scott Lothian, Kieron O’Rourke, Ewan McCormick also produced solid performances throughout the match. Kieran Allan top scored for the Sony sponsored side with 25, Owens had 14 (4 threes) , Davidson 12, Lothian 10, Smith 9 and Cavanagh 8. So the CM Play –Off Final will see the no 1 and 2 seeds battle it out for honors. It’s a repeat of last seasons CM Final where Saints just edged the Falkirk side. Both sides were also 1 and 2 in the CM Championship last season and is a testimony to the two clubs programs at this age group. THE FURY – ST.MIRREN PLAY-OFF FINAL will be played at the Oriam SC Edinburgh on 1st April (no kidding) at 10am
