FURY BLAZE TO 3 WINS FROM 4 AT U16/18 MEN

Sony Centre Fury U16 and u18 first and second Men's teams were in action at the week-end against Boroughmuir Blaze at the Crags SC. Both clubs historically, have excellent programs at these age groups – producing many International players. Fury just fell short of a clean sweep with wins at both U18 Mens Division 1 and 2 games and a win also in the Division 1 U16 Mens game. Having already won the Scottish Cup and Division 1 Championship( League) Fury Junior Men ( U18) with games in hand, the match against Blaze , while not relevant re final placings for Fury, any match with Fury and Blaze will be keenly contested and this was no different with the home side holding the edge for almost all of the game, until Fury caught fire in the final period. Blaze had led at half-time by 6 but Fury had started to produce their season winning form with a 24-13 third period to lead by 4. But it was the final stanza where the Sony sponsored side showed their class, extinguishing Blaze with a 32-9 spell and a 84-57, 27pt win. All of Fury’s 12 players were on the scoresheet with Cup Final MVP Sardar Pandher top scoring on 14 and Mitchell Stirling on 11. Fury’s Division 1 Cadet Men's side (U16) had a similar game to their older teammates , finding themselves behind at the half by 2pts in what was proving to be a tight game. However Fury gained the upper hand in the third, leading by 5 as they entered the final stanza. Like the Juniors – Fury Cadets then stormed clear with a 27-13 period and a 17pt – 78-61 win. Scotland Internationals Jack Davidson 19 and Jake Cavannagh 17 led Fury with Jisin Joseph on 12 and with his best performance of the season Gabe McArthur on 10. Fury’s second team at Junior Men proved what strength in depth the club has at this age group with another convincing performance in their Division 2 match against Blaze. Winning every period the side recorded a 66-37 , 29pt win and maintain their spot at 4th in Division 2 – a league that comprises clubs first teams bar Blaze and Fury- the only clubs competing at U18 Men Div 1 and 2. With a top 4 spot guaranteed, Fury will be going for another piece of Scottish basketball history, as never before has a club won both the first and second division titles in the same age group! The Cadet Men 2 game – the Division 2 match with Blaze , saw the Edinburgh side take their sole win of the day – a convincing 77-48 scoreline where for Fury, James Morrisson top scored with 16pts and Thomas Henderson also in double digits with 10. Once again the squad worked hard throughout and have developed greatly as the season has progressed.
