A nerve racking 1pt win at the Lagoon Centre in Paisley has seen FURY’s U18 Woman join their U16 teammates in the Scottish Cup Finals.

Fury who had twice beaten the Paisley side this season in the Scottish Division 1 Championship were taken right down to the final seconds in this exciting match up, between two of Scotland’s top clubs. Kim Flockhart’s Fury side were 7 clear at 58- 51 with under a minute to play, but 2 long range 3’s from the Saints side closed the game to win with 15 seconds remaining. Fury ran out the clock for the win and a place in the Scottish Cup Final against either Lady Rocks or Perth Phoenix.

Fury had got off to a lightening start, leading 14-2 with Molly Waddell and Pelly Kidd leading the Falkirk side with some great plays. However, the home side recovered bringing the game back to 21 – 18 in a high scoring opening period. That quarter and the second saw Saints stay in the game at the charity stripe as they scored 11 from 12 free throws in a foul count that was 11-4 at one stage.

A low scoring second saw Fury increase their lead to 7 at the half in a 10-6 quarter. Abby Rutter with 7 of the 10 scored. The third was Saints with an 18-14 scoreline with Rutter, Waddell and Katie McEwan putting points on the board for Fury. So with the game now back at 3pts it was anyone’s game. As the game moved to the final minute Fury were ahead by 7 with Rutter and Waddell scoring big threes and Kidd with 4 personal. The game as it turned out, was won on the line by Erin Marshall, who connected with a two to give her team 57pts and added a third point at the line to give her team 58pts, that despite Saints late 3’s was enough to win a great match between tow long time rivals.

Abby Rutter and Molly Waddell top scored on 14 apiece with Pelly Kidd and Katie McEwan with 11 apiece a true throwback for the Knights/Fury partnership!!
